In "Is there Global Ethics?" it is brought up that Thai doctors will not remove patients from a ventilator because of their belief in the sanctity of life.  I would argue that they should remove patients from ventilators if they believe in the sanctity of life.  That person's life is arguably not worth living any more.  If there is more pain in their life than is bearable it does not seem that life holds much value.  I believe that their definition of valuable human life is too vague.  People's lives are valuable are precious if they have conscious thought of their own.  According to biology online, life has to involve the ability to respond to stimuli and to have the ability to adapt.  People who must be hooked up to a ventilator do not have that.
